Autumn Organizing

Autumn Organizing is like spring cleaning but in fall. For me, yearly autumn organizing is something that involves digging through my craft stash, finding unfinished work in progress, and organizing my dreams for the upcoming year.

Cleaning out my work in progress drawers feels so refreshing. I toss out projects that don't feel right, that i know i will never finish or be happy about anyway, and i rediscover projects that do deserve to be finished.

This year went by so quick, can hardly believe tomorrow is already November! Blink a couple of times and it's 2009! Starting the new year fresh and organized is always a big thing for me. I like to start out with no unfinished business. No mile long to-do list. The only list i like to have on January first is my dream list.
During my Autumn Organizing i sit down with (preferably) a new notebook and write down all my dreams for the next year. I believe in dreaming big. No censoring yourself. Even though some dreams might sound impossible, i write them down. Ink on paper make things more real. Maybe even achievable. Taking a moment to focus on longer term goals. Day to day busyness can make you loose sight of where you want to go.

I believe that when you are focused and know what direction you want to take yourself and your business in, the universe will work with you. Making sure possibilities arise. Adventures and new projects will find you when you are walking in the right direction.

So probably over the next couple of weeks, until the end of the year, i'll be showing crafty works in progress being finished and sharing new dreams.
Do you have any special preparations to get ready for the new year?

Another great idea Issey. This is something that I often struggle with. I'm so busy with the day-to-day duties of blogging that I often get frustrated with not having time to see the bigger picture. Where is it all going? Where do I want it to go? Taking the time out to plan, whether it's dedicating a day or even better - an entire week makes such a difference. We used to do this all the time, back when I was working full-time - a departmental outing where all we do is see where we are in the grand scheme of things and plan where we want to be and discuss the steps necessary to get there. Thanks for the reminder, now is a perfect time to do this before the holiday frenzy begins (ooops, I think it already begun!)

Cleaning and decluttering really does feel great doesnt it?

I'm trying to do that now as it really helps. Plus I like that you write your goals down. It makes it more real once it's down on paper.

I've actually listed all sorts of goals on my blog. Well it's for the 101 things to do in 1001 days but still goals nonetheless.

Good for you getting organized, and just to let you know I love those little drawers with the gorgeous paper.

I love your dream list idea!

I'm all for autumn organizing too. I did my craft supplies last month, and now it's time for my wardrobe!
