The Joys of Jello

I just recently sold this 1962 recipe book "The Joys of Jello" from my shop.
Couldn't let it go without scanning and sharing some of the amazing Jell-O dishes!
joys of jello
Jell-O Gelatin first shimmered its way into American dining rooms in 1897.
Housewives liked it so much they invented all sorts of ingenious recipes using Jell-O. Why not serve your shrimps inside a Jello bowl?

Vegetable Salads – three of many Jello salads you can make.

A multi stripe delight is a good start to any party!

Hungry anyone?

I have never liked Jello, but I think some of the things people make with it can be really pretty and, um, interesting.

Jello reminds me of the time when I was about 5, my Mum came into the dining room with a magnificent shaped green jello, she was very proud of it! She shook it slightly and called out laughing; "kikkerdril!" (frogspawn) No-one ate it...

I love old pics of Jello dishes!
Some are so pretty but the thought of eating it makes me feel queasy. :))

Hope all is well with you darling.

We're currently planning a trip to NY and NJ in May or June.
Still up for a cup of coffee? :D
